Toyota Axio 2018 Review in Bangladesh: Price, Mileage, Features & Common Problems

Article overview 4 minute read

If you are looking at a 2018 Toyota Axio in Bangladesh, don’t judge the car by the model year alone.

Two 2018 Axios can have completely different values because of their auction grade, mileage, trim, accident history, hybrid condition, registration year and previous use.

The 2018 Axio belongs to the E160-generation Corolla Axio sold in Japan. The hybrid uses Toyota’s 1.5-liter 1NZ-FXE engine with an electric CVT. Toyota’s official specification lists 74 PS, 111 Nm and a 36-liter fuel tank for the hybrid.

So the real question isn’t:

“Is the Axio 2018 good?”

It’s:

“Which Axio 2018 are you actually buying?”

Toyota Axio 2018 Price in Bangladesh

There isn’t one fixed market price for a 2018 Axio.

Recent Bangladesh listings show examples ranging from around Tk 19.5 lakh to Tk 25 lakh and above, depending on the specific car. For example, recent listings include a 2018 Axio Hybrid at Tk 19.5 lakh, another Hybrid at Tk 20.5 lakh, and a Hybrid W×B at Tk 25 lakh. These are asking prices, not an official market average.

Don’t compare two Axios by price alone

CheckWhy it matters
Auction gradeShows the condition recorded at auction
Auction mileageHelps establish the car’s history
Current mileageShows subsequent use
Hybrid/non-hybridDifferent powertrain and running costs
X/G/W×B gradeEquipment and trim can differ
Accident historyRepairs can affect value
Registration yearDifferent from manufacturing year
Hybrid batteryImportant on an older hybrid
Tire conditionCan add a significant immediate expense
Interior wearHelps cross-check mileage claims

A Tk 20 lakh Axio isn’t automatically a better deal than a Tk 23 lakh Axio.

The history and condition explain the price difference.

Toyota Axio 2018 Mileage: Don’t Chase the 34.4 km/L Number

Toyota’s official catalog gives the NKE165 hybrid a JC08 fuel-economy figure of 34.4 km/L. That is a standardized Japanese test result, not a promise of what you will achieve in Dhaka.

Toyota itself notes that real-world fuel consumption varies according to factors such as traffic, weather and driving conditions.

In Bangladesh, actual mileage can change significantly with:

  • Dhaka traffic
  • AC use
  • Short trips
  • Stop-and-go driving
  • Tire pressure
  • Driving style
  • Hybrid battery condition
  • Engine condition

So if a seller says:

“This Axio gives 30+ km/L.”

Ask how they calculated it.

Was it the dashboard average?

A full-tank calculation?

Highway driving?

Mixed driving?

That question gives you much more useful information than simply looking at the number.

Which 2018 Axio Are You Looking At?

Toyota sold the facelifted Axio in several grades, including petrol and hybrid versions.

The official Toyota catalog shows different configurations for the 2017–2019 production period, including 1.5 X, 1.5 G and hybrid variants.

This matters because a seller saying “Axio 2018” doesn’t tell you the complete specification.

Before comparing prices, identify:

Fuel type → grade → chassis → auction grade → mileage → registration → condition

That’s a much better comparison method.

The NKE165 Chassis: Why It Matters

If you’re looking at an Axio Hybrid, you may see a chassis/model code such as:

DAA-NKE165

Toyota’s official catalog identifies the hybrid version with this model code and the 1NZ-FXE engine.

Use the actual chassis number to cross-check:

  • Auction records
  • Mileage
  • Vehicle identity
  • Documentation
  • Import history

Don’t rely only on a screenshot supplied by the seller.

Hybrid Battery: Don’t Accept “Battery Good” as Proof

A hybrid can drive normally while still requiring a proper battery inspection.

Before buying, have the car checked with an appropriate diagnostic scanner and inspect:

  • Hybrid warning lights
  • Battery-related fault codes
  • Battery charge/discharge behavior
  • Cooling fan operation
  • Battery cooling area
  • Unusual changes in engine/battery behavior

The 2018 Axio hybrid uses a nickel-metal hydride traction battery according to Toyota’s specifications.

The important point is simple:

A seller’s statement is not a battery health report.

Check the Auction Sheet Before Buying

For a Japanese reconditioned Axio, the auction sheet can help you understand what happened to the car before it reached Bangladesh.

Compare:

Auction sheet → chassis number → auction mileage → current odometer → physical condition

For example, if the auction record shows 60,000 km and the car now shows 78,000 km, that is something you can investigate logically.

But if the seller shows only the current dashboard mileage without supporting history, you have much less information.

Bangladesh Price: Use Listings as Evidence, Not as a Valuation

Current Bikroy listings are useful for understanding what sellers are asking, but they should not be treated as a definitive valuation.

For example, recent 2018 Axio listings include:

  • Tk 19.5 lakh Hybrid
  • Tk 20.5 lakh Hybrid
  • Tk 21 lakh examples
  • Tk 22.8 lakh example
  • Tk 23.5 lakh G
  • Tk 25 lakh Hybrid W×B

These differences show why grade, mileage, registration and condition must be included when comparing prices.
